Tom is a Partner at Koulikourdis and Associates. He's a Korean-American attorney and is fluent in Korean. Prior to joining the firm, he was a partner at a boutique matrimonial law firm in Hudson County, New Jersey, where he practiced extensively in Family Law and estate litigation.
After joining the Firm, he was a lead counsel for complex commercial litigation for various businesses, partnerships, and shareholders, including notable legendary businesses in New York City and Northern New Jersey. He has also lead counsel for a corporate client in a federal collective action docketed at the Federal District Court in the Southern District of New York.
Tom recently secured a $1M judgment in favor of his client against a tortfeasor in a civil suit docketed at the Bergen County Superior Court (Docket No. BER-L-7551-21).
Tom brings a multi-disciplinary approach to his law practice, with extensive experience in the following areas both in and outside the courtrooms:
Family Law: divorce (contested, uncontested, international marriages, and high-asset divorces), custody disputes, parenting time and visitation, child support, alimony (spousal maintenance in New York), equitable distribution, palimony, domestic violence (TRO / FRO), QDRO, NJ DCP&P or NY CPS investigations, post-judgment motion practice, prenuptial agreements, name change petitions, and adoption. He has served as a panelist for the Early Settlement Program (ESP) for the Bergen County Family Court.
Business Law and Commercial Litigation: real estate transactions (purchase or selling residential or commercial properties); drafting and review of contracts, agreements, and leases; sale and purchase of businesses; and shareholder 's rights, liability, disputes and resolution.
Surrogate Court and Estate Litigation: Will contests, administration of estate, preparing Inheritance Tax Returns (IT-Rs) and responding to audits, conveyance of estate assets and real property, and protecting beneficiary's rights. He also currently serves as a trustee of a Revocable Living Trust and is a court-appointed co-guardian for an elderly AIP (alleged incapacitated person).
Complex Litigation: collective action, third party practice, contractor-subcontractor dispute, insurance subrogation, uninsured/underinsured (UM/UIM) motorist insurance coverage claims, personal injury protection (PIP) Arbitration, and E-discovery.
